The AlphaRet Overnight Cream claims to significantly improve the appearance of lines, wrinkles, uneven tone and texture.The star ingredient in this product is “AlphaRet” - Ethyl Lactyl Retinoate, which is an AHA-Retinoid Conjugate (basically a combination of lactic acid and retinoid). Lactic Acid is a mild chemical exfoliant (AHA) that works by loosening the glue-like substance that holds dead/dull skin cells on topmost layer of the skin, so they can fall off thereby revealing newer, healthier skin. Retinoids are a huge family of compounds derived from Vitamin A, known to boost cell turnover, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, control acne, fight free radicals, even out skin tone and improve skin texture.
Unfortunately, there isn’t enough research to prove that this star ingredient can offer better anti-aging effects than retinol, but there is research to prove that it is effective and less irritating than retinol and retinoid acid. The percentage of AlphaRet in this product is not stated as well, so it is quite difficult to say how effective it will be in this formulation.
