Oh my Drunk Elephant! It’s actually one of my favourite skincare brands. I was really hoping their new retinol cream won’t disappoint…and it sure didn’t. It claims to dramatically diminish the appearance of fine lines, deep wrinkles and sun damage revealing a vibrant, younger-looking complexion.

It contains 1% retinol (quite high if you’re a retinol newbie). Retinol has more than 40 years of research backing its effectiveness at reducing fine lines and wrinkles, skin roughness, hyperpigmentation, and improving skin texture by increasing cell turnover, preventing collagen breakdown, and thickening the epidermis. It is also a rich source of antioxidants, fighting free-radical damage and premature aging.

Apart from retinol, it has a great mix of other ingredients that will give your skin a younger and healthier look like Niacinamide, Peptides, Ceramides, Fatty Acids, Vitamin C derivative, Vitamin E, Sodium Hyaluronate and nourishing non-fragrant plant oils.

Niacinamide helps visibly improve the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles, dullness, and a weakened surface. Ceramides, which make up 50% of the skin’s composition, are critical for holding the skin together and protecting it from dehydration. As we get older, the quality and quantity of ceramides deplete so we need to give our skin the ceramides it can no longer create. Peptides are fundamental building blocks of the skin, without them, the skin losses firmness, texture changes and wrinkles appear. Vitamin C and E are free-radical fighting antioxidants. Sodium Hyaluronate is a humectant, which keeps the skin hydrated.
