Product Claims:
“These balancing and exfoliating lotions speed up the epidermis’ natural exfoliating process and the reconstruction of the epidermal shield. The fortified epidermis can then fulfil its protective functions completely, enhancing the skin’s self-regeneration potential. It not only exfoliates, but it also purifies, regenerates and maintains the pH of the epidermis.” – Biologique Recherche Website.
HILARY SAYS REVIEW:
The P50 lotion is the star product for Biologique Recherche, nearly 50 years after its creation, it remains a top seller and has spun off variations for different skin types. This review is for the New P50 Formula (not Original 1970). It claims to speed up the epidermis’ natural exfoliating process and the reconstruction of the epidermal shield. It not only exfoliates, but it also purifies, regenerates and maintains the pH of the epidermis.
According to its ingredients, this is clearly an exfoliating lotion (or toner). It contains exfoliants like: Gluconolactone (PHA – similar to AHAs but much milder and hydrating), Lactic Acid (AHA), Malic Acid (AHA) and Salicylic Acid (BHA). This is a nice blend of exfoliants that can work on different levels of the skin. This is a huge plus! It contains other beneficial ingredients like Niacinamide (the jack-of-all-trades ingredient), Phytic Acid (antioxidant), Myrrh & Burdock (antioxidant, soothing).
The only down side of P50 is that it contains known sensitizing ingredients like Horseradish Root Extract and high levels of Vinegar, which has acetic acid that can sensitize the skin. Simply because of that, it gets 3.5/5 from me.
