HILARY SAYS REVIEW:
Body Shop’s Drops of Youth line of products uses “plant stem cells” (Edelweiss Plant Cells, Sea Holly Plant Cells & Criste Marine Plant Cells) as their main anti-aging “secret”. The most popular in this line is the Youth Concentrate.
Firstly, my main concern with this product is that Alcohol Denat is the ingredient with the 2nd highest concentration. Although alcohol in some skincare products can help enhance penetration, too much of it can dry your skin, cause erosion of the skin’s barrier and is not great for sensitive skin. Secondly, plant stem cells do not work on human skin….unless your skin is trying to grow some stems/leaves/fruit. All they will do is work as antioxidants at best. Thirdly, the 3 plant stem cells that are mentioned in the claims as the active ingredients are present at very low concentrations — in lower concentrations than the fragrance ingredients; so you can imagine how little of the active ingredients are in this product.
Think of plant stem cells like plant extracts with antioxidant benefit, nothing more—and in the case of this product there’s not much in here anyway. Fourthly, there are so many fragrance ingredients in this product, if you have sensitive skin, I will advice you to stay well away from it.
What you will get from this product is pretty much hydration because of the levels of Glycerin and Sodium Hyaluronate. That’s it! If you ask me, it’s a waste of money.
