Retinol is one of the most highly hyped anti-aging skincare ingredients. It can help visibly diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles, increase the appearance of firmness, improve uneven skin tone, smooth and refine the surface of skin, and help mitigate the effects of environmental stressors. SkinMedica offers a range of dermatologist-developed skin-care products aimed at the symptoms of aging skin, such as wrinkles and skin discolorations.

HILARY SAYS REVIEW:
I personally use this product and I absolutely love it…my skin has never felt this smooth…..EVER! What makes this such a good product is that it’s not just a one-note product. It combines a high dose of the anti aging powerhouse ingredient retinol with a great mix of antioxidants, and other beneficial ingredients like niacinamide, peptides and ceramides. As effective as retinol is, the skin needs more than just one great ingredient to look younger and healthier.
Published research has shown that concentrations as low as 0.01% retinol are effective for improving multiple signs of aging and minimizing pore size, along with improving skin’s healthy appearance, but for dramatic and rapid results, you can go for higher strength between 0.5% – 1% (that is IF your skin can tolerate retinol). You are advised to start with lower strengths and work your way up.
Niacinamide helps visibly improve the appearance of enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles, dullness, and a weakened surface. Ceramides, which make up 50% of the skin’s composition, are critical for holding the skin together and protecting it from dehydration. As we get older, the quality and quantity of ceramides deplete so we need to give our skin the ceramides it can no longer create. Peptides are fundamental building blocks of the skin, without them, the skin losses firmness, texture changes and wrinkles appear.
So the claims of enhancing skin tone, texture, and resiliency while diminishing lines and wrinkles are absolutely possible with this product. So it is a BIG YES from me!
PS: If you decide to use this product, please follow usage instructions and pay attention to how your skin responds, adjusting frequency of application as needed. Also remember, it is very important to use sunscreen (broad spectrum SPF 30 and above).
