HILARY SAYS REVIEW:

Lancôme claims this product is a “masterpiece of rejuvenation” due to the specially extracted millions of precious rose “native cells” (read ‘Stem Cells”) it contains. Although stem cell science is exciting, this area of research still has a long way to go as far as skin rejuvenation is concerned. If, per chance, Lancôme has research to prove that these rose stem cells are amazing, there is no published scientific research to support it.

Here are a few reasons why the stem cells in this cream will not work:

  1. The stem cells in this product come from plants (rose), so unless you are trying to process chlorophyll or grow stems, leaves and fruits, they aren’t going to do your skin much good.
  2. If someday Lancôme claim that they have a cream with stem cells derived from humans (I doubt that will ever happen), know that stem cells only work if they are living. I can assure you that living stem cells are not being put into these skin creams.  If they were, they would have to have a special growth medium, be kept at a specific temperature and refreshed with food constantly. So just know that you’re buying creams filled with dead stem cells that have no potential to do anything.
  3. Stem cells are not able to penetrate deep enough into to the skin’s dermis to take action. If by any chance stem cells were human-based and able to penetrate to the bottom of the dermis, it is unlikely the cells would be effective by the time they made it from the lab and the packaging facility to your skin.

Now that we have ruled out the possibility that the rose stem cells will work, we are left with a pretty good moisturizer for dry skin. Will you spend $360 on a regular moisturizer? I don’t think so. So you are better off spending a fraction of the money on a good moisturizer and the rest on Botox injections, which will eliminate wrinkles for a few months at least.
