Drunk Elephant was established in 2012 by a former skincare executive. Their mission is to deliver clinically-effective, clean skincare formulated with both cutting-edge synthetic and natural ingredients; and without the ubiquitous toxins, sensitizers and irritants. They pay close attention to pH and toxicity levels, as well as formulating with efficacious percentages of active ingredients. I am particularly a big fan of this brand; let’s see if the C-Firma Day Serum lives up to expectations.
“A super-potent vitamin C day serum packed with a powerful antioxidant complex, essential nutrients, fruit enzymes and a chronopeptide that provides the benefits of vitamin D, all working together to firm and brighten the appearance of skin while improving the signs of photoaging.” – Drunk Elephant Website.

HILARY SAYS REVIEW:
Drunk Elephant’s C-Firma Day Serum is a vitamin c serum packed with some very beneficial ingredients. It contains 15% Ascorbic acid, which is the gold standard of Vitamin C, other great antioxidants like Ferulic Acid, Vitamin E, and lightweight antioxidant rich plant oil, Marula Oil. (Read more about Vitamin C here)
Vitamin C is a powerhouse ingredient known for its many benefits, which include being a potent antioxidant to fight free radicals, promotes collagen production and helps even out skin tone. To create an effect Vitamin C product, it must be formulated with pure Ascorbic Acid at an acidic pH between 2.0 and 3.5 and have a concentration between 10-20%. This product has a pH level of 3.3 to 3.5. Unfortunately, the company Skinceuticals holds a patent, which requires that no other Vitamin C serum can have a pH between 2.5 and 3.0 but this serum has a pH level of 3.3 to 3.5 – low enough to be effective, but not so low to violate the patent. The review for Skinceuticals CE Ferulic Serum can be found here.
The main aim of the serum is to correct any past damage done by UV rays and the environment, promoting healthier and happier skin; with an ingredients list like that, your skin will definitely get healthier with regular use. Apart from these antioxidants, it contains antiaging chronopeptide that transforms into vitamin D, supports natural collagen production and cell regeneration therefore giving the skin a more youthful-look. It also has licorice root extract which helps to brighten/promote more even skin tone and sodium hyaluronate, a humectant which attracts water molecules to deliver excellent hydration and plump the skin.
According to research, the first process of skin aging is the decline in natural antioxidant production, which happens in your early 20s. I personally used to think cleansing, using a good moisturizer and sunscreen was enough for your skin in your 20s but new data shows that the skin is already susceptible to oxidative damage at that stage. So if you are in your early 20s, this is the best time to start using products with antioxidants such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Ferulic Acid, and Resveratrol.
Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum product is packed with great antioxidants, with a comprehensive series of other anti-aging ingredients, so it’s a good place to start. It gets a thumbs-up from me!
